Glaurung and Turin by Atriedes Glaurung and Turin by Atriedes
Watercolour on cold pressed 300g/m2
Tolkien's other great dragon. Glaurung bewitches the hapless Turin while his lover is carried off by the orcs to rather grizzly end. This took FOREVER. Started life as a doodle, became a sketch then became a painting and then I started adding orcs.....

So lovely~~ This is one of my favourite scenes in the story of Turin, and I love how you capture the stillness of the moment between Turin and Glaurung and juxtapose it with the movement beside them. The tension in both Turin and Glaurung's posture is just perfect. It really draws out that sense of surreality which I loved in the book.
